5K Training
To successfully run a 5K, you need a training plan. With the right plan, you can complete a 5K in a matter of weeks.
Here are some key principles of training for a 5K:
- Start out slow, especially if you are a beginning runner! You’ll be doing more walking than running at first.
- Increase your weekly running distance gradually! This is crucial for avoiding injuries, and will keep you on track to completing your training goals.
- Don’t focus much (or at all) on time (i.e., how fast you are running), especially when you’re just starting out. In fact, it’s often best not to wear a watch so you don’t think about time.
- Have fun! You want the entire 5K running experience, from your first day running to race day, to be enjoyable.
